William Garvey

Simulation Coordinator

Bill coordinates the daily operations of SIMS Medical Center and is the liaison between SIMS Medical Center and its faculty. Bill has helped develop and implement new simulation procedures as well as new techniques in patient special effects. Bill has co-presented these new techniques across the east coast on behalf of SIMS Medical Center. 

 

He received his A.S. in Electronic Technology from Springfield Technical Community College and his B.A in Arts from Westfield State University. His responsibilities include day to day development and operations of all patient simulation experiences. 

Bill helps facilitates SMC faculty and staff interactions to allow for successful implementation of SCE’s for SIMS Medical Center.William comes to Sims Medical Center after being a teacher in the West Springfield school system and is a retired Firefighter/EMT from the West Springfield Fire Department.

Mario Taylor

BA

Simulation Specialist ll

Mario is a Simulations Specialist with SIMS Medical Center. 

He received a B.A. in Mass Communication from Rust College in Holly Springs, Mississippi in 1985. 

His responsibilities include day to day operation and set up of all patient simulation experiences. Mario also oversees daily and monthly preventive maintenance of simulators, weekly inventory of supplies, and helps troubleshoot audio visual equipment. 

Mario comes to Sims Medical Center after 20 years at Mercy Medical Center as a Multimedia Specialist in the IT Department.

Cristina Goncalves

MSN, RN

Patient Simulation Development Specialist

Cristina (Tina) is a Patient Simulation Development Specialist. Tina has a wealth of simulation experience and has worked with the SIMS Medical Center faculty on numerous grant projects. She likes to work collaboratively with other disciplines in simulation to provide the best and most realistic student experiences.

Tina received her Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and her Master’s Degree in Nursing with a Concentration in Education from Elms College. She worked at Baystate Medical Center in numerous capacities for 26 years. Her experience ranges from Med-Surg to Operating Room, PACU, Pain Management, Dialysis and Education. She worked to integrate patient simulation into orientation, remediation, and competency assessment at Baystate Medical Center. Tina has also worked here as adjunct faculty, teaching an Acute Care Program for PCT’s that incorporated simulation. This training she helped to develop during a Workforce Development Grant.

Michael Sibilia

NRP

Patient Simulation Specialist

Michael is a Patient Simulation Specialist for Sims Medical Center at Springfield Technical Community College. His responsibilities include daily operations and maintenance of patient simulators as well as assisting in providing realistic simulation experiences for students and faculty.

Michael has an A.S. in Fire Protection and Safety Technology from STCC and an A.S. in Business Administration from HCC. He is Certified Firefighter and Paramedic in the State of Massachusetts and has been involved in Pre-Hospital EMS and Firefighting since 1994. He has performed EMS education since 2003 and is a certified instructor of ACLS, CPR/First Aid, PALS, and PEPP. In 2017 Michael was awarded the Hometown Hero award for life saving actions performed in his local township.

Keith O'Brien

Simulation Informatics Specialist

Keith is a Simulation Informatics Specialist for Sims Medical Center at Springfield Technical Community College. 

His responsibilities include daily operation of patient simulators and providing realistic simulation experiences for students and faculty.

Keith received his National Registered EMT-Paramedic certificate from Springfield College and has 20+ years in EMS education. Alongside his roles at Sims Medical Center he is also a Firefighter and Paramedic with a Fire Department in Western Massachusetts.

Dan Taibbi

Patient Simulation Informatics Coordinator, Videographer, & Content Producer

Dan is a Patient Simulation Informatics Coordinator with SIMS Medical Center.

His responsibilities include day to day operation and providing patient simulation experiences for students and faculty. 

 

Dan is responsible for the visual creation, direction, and documentation of simulation experiences by capturing video and editing together movies that support our students and faculty. Dan's also in in charge of troubleshooting all audio visual equipment at SIMS Medical Center.

He received a A.S. in Visual Media from Holyoke Community College and has spent over a decade working as a creative professional for the Apple Computer Company. He is also active in directing/editing feature films, commercials, and documentaries for national clients.

Dan O'Neill

Dan is a Patient Simulation Informatics Coordinator with SIMS Medical Center.

His responsibilities include day to day operation and providing patient simulation experiences for students and faculty. 

 

Dan is responsible for  assisting in the visual creation, direction, and documentation of simulation experiences by capturing photos and video that support our students and faculty. Dan's also in in charge of troubleshooting all audio visual equipment at SIMS Medical Center.

He received a A.S. in Electronic Media from Holyoke Community College He is a creative professional active in photography and media work for national clients.
